On Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the Hatfield, PA Ice Arena, the Georgetown Hoyas faced-off against the Kutztown University Golden Bears. After jumping out to a 3-2 lead early in the second period, the Hoyas turned up the intensity and dominated the Golden Bears the remainder of the game. Once again, it was a total team effort and the entire Hoyas' squad contributed to the victory. The Hoyas' 10-goal offensive outburst was the result of strong skating, crisp passing and unselfish team play. Every Hoya goal except one was accompanied by one or more assists. The one exception occurred midway through the second period when the Golden Bears were attempting to capitalize on a 5-on-3 power play. Undaunted by the situation, Alex Yale-Loehr (Fr-Ithaca, NY) stole the puck and scored despite a two-man disadvantage to shock the Golden Bears and their fans. In addition to the exploits of Alex Yale-Loehr, who scored 2 goals, many other Hoyas notched goals and assists in the victory. Adam Willner (Sr-Montclair, NJ) had 2 goals and 1 assist. Hugh Manahan (Sr-Skillman, NJ), had 1 goal and 3 assists. Dan Lechner (Jr-Rockville, MD) had 1 goal and 3 assists. Gus Thompson (Soph-New Canaan, CT) had 1 goal and 2 assists. Peter Black (Sr-Bethesda, MD) had 1 goal and 1 assist. Andrew Dorin (Jr-Roslyn, NY) and Joe Horgan (Jr-Lansdale, PA) each scored a goal. And Michael Sortwell (Fr-St. Lewis, MO), Ryan Murphy (Sr-Clifton Park, NY), John Reppucci (Sr-Newburgport, MA), and Brian Brauth (G-Jersey City, NJ) each added an assist to secure the Hoyas 10th victory of the season. |
