Georgetown 5, Princeton 2. On Saturday, November 22, 2009, at the Hobey Baker Memorial Rink in Princeton, NJ, the Hoyas defeated the Tigers of Princeton University, 5-2. Before an enthusiastic crowd of the Hoya faithful from Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, the Hoyas dominated the action from start to finish, outshooting the Tigers 40-13. With 5:33 remaining in the first period, Joe Horgan (Sr-Lansdale, PA) scored on a wrist shot from the slot, with assists from Andrew Foley (Sr-New York, NY) and Andrew Dorin (Sr-Roslyn, NY). Georgetown led 1-0 at the end of the first period, outshooting Princeton 15-5. Early in the second period (and seven minutes before he was unceremoniously ejected from the game for fighting), Brian Brauth (Grad-Hoboken, NJ) gave the Hoyas a 2-0 lead by scoring from close range, with an assist from behind the net by Dan Lechner (Sr-Rockville, MD). After Princeton cut the lead to 2-1, Andrew Foley brought the crowd to its feet with a tremendous one-timer from the right circle, with assists from Charlie Beller (Jr-Chappaqua, NY) and Joe Horgan. This gave the Hoyas a 3-1 lead. Midway through the third period, Andrew Foley struck again, this time on a quick move to the left of the Princeton goalie, with assists from Andrew Dorin and Joe Horgan. With 12:11 remaining in the game, George McGinniss (Sr-New Canaan, CT) skated across the blue line and unleashed a vicious one-timer that blasted past the Princeton goaltender and into the back of the net, giving Georgetown its 5th and final goal of the game. Alex Yale-Loehr (Soph-Ithaca, NY) registered the assist. The Hoyas' defense was outstanding the entire game, limiting Princeton to 13 shots. Defensive standouts for the Hoyas were Charlie Walsh (Sr-Cheshire, CT), Gus Thompson (Jr-New Canaan,CT), Peter Bourneuf (Soph-Boston, MA), Alex Estey (Soph-Toronto, Canada), Charlie Beller, and George McGinniss. Greg Graham (Sr-Downingtown, PA) was steady in goal and racked up his second victory of the weekend.
