University of Maryland 7, Georgetown 2.

On Friday night, October 24, 2008, before a spirited crowd at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex, the Georgetown Hoyas faced off against the University of Maryland Terrapins. The Terrapins are in Division 1 of the ACHA (The Hoyas are in Division 2). For the first half of the game, the Hoyas were very competitive and it was a one-goal game. The score was 2-1 in favor of Maryland midway into the second period. Thereafter, the Terrapins outscored the Hoyas 5-1 to secure the victory. Hugh Manahan (Sr-Greenville, DE) scored the first goal of the game for the Hoyas with 12:36 remaining in the second period to make the score 2-1, assisted by John Ryder (Freshman-Cleveland, OH) and Alex Yale-Loehr (Freshman-Ithaca, NY). In the middle of the third period, the Hoyas recorded their final tally when Alex Yale-Loehr found the back of the net, assisted by John Ryder and Charlie Walsh (Jr-Cheshire, CT).
