Georgetown 9, George Mason 1.
On Saturday, December 1, 2007, the Georgetown Hoyas started slow and
sluggish, but finished strong and fast, to defeat the George Mason Patriots
9-1. Georgetown outshot the Patriots by the incredible margin of 85 to 18.
George Mason scored on one of the first shifts of the game, and led 1-0 at
the end of the first period. The Hoyas scored three times in the second
period to take a 3-1 lead. In the final period, Georgetown scored six
unanswered goals to seal the victory.
Ryan Berg (Soph-Pewaukee, WI) was in goal for the Hoyas and secured his
first victory of the season, stopping 17 of 18 shots. Paul Svirbel
(Jr-Pittsburgh, PA) scored the eventual game-winner for the Hoyas on a
strong blast from the point in the second period. Chris Jordan
(Jr-Greenville, DE) crashed the far post and beat the Patriots' goalie for
a score in the third. Will Peterson (Jr-Wayzata, MN) found the back of the
net and scored an impressive goal for the Hoyas. In addition, Conor
Hickton (Sr-Pittsburgh, PA) had 2 goals and 3 assists; Dave Glynn
(Sr-Stoughton, MA) had 2 goals and 1 assist; Dan Lechner (Soph-N.Potomac,
MD) had 1 goal and 3 assists; Charlie Beller (Fr-Chappaqua, NY) had 1 goal
and 1 assist; and Joe Horgan (Soph-Lansdale, PA) and Justin McNamara
(Fr-Wrentham, MA) each had 2 assists.
