Georgetown 11, George Mason 0 (ACCHL Tournament First Round).

On Friday afternoon, February 22, 2008, in the first round of the 2008
ACCHL Championship Tournament, the Georgetown Hoyas faced-off against the
Patriots of George Mason University. The last time these teams met, the
Hoyas played one of their worst games of the season. Although the Hoyas
prevailed in that game, 5-3, the score was tied 3-3 late in the third
period and Georgetown had to rally to pull it out.

This time, however, the Hoyas were in playoff mode and ready for action.
In short, Georgetown overwhelmed the Patriots and the result was never in
doubt. According to the official scoresheet, Georgetown had 99 shots on
goal, compared to 12 for George Mason. It was total domination.

Everyone on the Georgetown team contributed to the victory. Conor Hickton
(Sr-Pittsburgh, PA) had 2 goals and 3 assists; Dave Glynn (Sr-Stoughton,
MA) had 2 goals and 3 assists; Peter Black (Jr-Bethesda, MD) had 2 goals
and 2 assists; Joe Horgan (Soph-Lansdale, PA) had 2 goals; Cody Ling
(Fr-Chatham, MA) had 1 goal and 1 assist; Will Peterson (Jr-Wayzata, MN)
had 1 goal and 1 assist; Chris Jordan (Jr-Greenville, DE) had 2 assists;
Eric Estey (Sr-Toronto, Canada) had 2 assists; Hugh Manahan (Jr-Skillman,
NJ) had 1 goal; and Justin McNamara (Fr-Wrentham, MA), Andrew Dorin (Soph-
Roslyn, NY), Dan Lechner (Soph-N. Potomac, MD), and Steve Russell
(Sr-Andover, MA) each had 1 assist.

Shutting down the Patriots on the defensive end were Charlie Walsh
(Soph-Cheshire, CT), Charlie Beller (Fr-Chappaqua, NY), Brendan Surma
(Jr-Pittsburgh, PA), Rick Cella (Sr-Long Valley, NJ), and Paul Svirbel
(Jr-Pittsburgh, PA). Greg Graham (Soph-Downingtown, PA) and Clayton Kossl
(Fr- Kinnelon, NJ) shared goaltending duties and secured the third shutout
of the season for the Hoyas. The victory propelled the Hoyas into a
semi-final matchup against the Wolfpack of North Carolina State.
