On Sunday morning, January 20, 2008, at the Triangle Sportsplex in
Hillsborough, NC, the Hoyas faced-off against the University of North
Carolina Tar Heels.
UNC jumped out to a 2-0 lead within the first 5 minutes of the game. This
served as the Hoyas' wake-up call, as Georgetown outskated, outshot, and
outscored the Tar Heels the remainder of the game to secure a 5-2 victory.
Clayton Kossl (Fr-Kinnelon, NJ) did a fine job in goal for the Hoyas,
saving 18 of 20 shots.
Co-captains Dave Glynn (Sr-Stoughton, MA) and Conor Hickton (Sr-Pittsburgh,
PA) were the offensive stars of the game for the Hoyas. Dave had 2 goals
and 1 assist, and Conor had 2 goals and 2 assists. Beyond stats, however,
Dave and Conor served as leaders of the team and made sure this game would
not slip away. Charlie Beller (Fr-Chappaqua, NY) scored the remaining goal
for the Hoyas on a fine wrist shot from the slot, assisted by Dan Lechner
(Soph-N. Potomac, MD). Assists also were dished out by Rick Cella (Sr-Long
Valley, NJ), Joe Horgan (Soph-Lansdale, PA), Eric Estey (Sr-Toronto, CA),
Justin McNamara (Fr-Wrentham, MA), Steve Russell (Sr-Andover, MA), and
Charlie Walsh (Soph-Cheshire, CT). Others contributing on the offensive
end included Pete Black (Jr-Bethesda, MD), Andrew Dorin (Soph-Roslyn, NY),
Sander Porcelli (Soph-Montclair, NJ), Chris Jordan (Jr-Greenville, DE),
Will Peterson (Jr-Wayzata, MN), and Cody Ling (Fr-Chatham, MA).
